TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The former chairman of Dingyue Development Corp. (鼎越開發) was summoned as a defendant in the ongoing investigation over the Taipei Core Pacific City development project on Thursday (Sept. 19).
Chu Yea-hu (朱亞虎) denied bribery allegations during his appearance at the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office (台北地檢署), saying, "I did not. I did not bribe."
In related news, Chu, after stepping down as commissioner of the Department of Compulsory Military Service, joined the Core Pacific Group (威京集團) through the introduction of Taipei City Councilor Angela Ying (應曉薇). Chu played a significant role in the redevelopment project.
Taipei City Councilor Hung Chien-yi (洪健益) disclosed a handwritten letter from Chu to former Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Legislator Tsai Pi-ruu (蔡壁如). The letter discussed the project's floor area ratio (FAR) and called for a coordination meeting, naming Tsai as "key figure behind the case."
In addition to Chu, the controversy has led to the detention of five other suspects, including TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), Core Pacific Group chairman Sheen Ching-jing (沈慶京), and Ying.
