TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) warned of intermittent showers and thunderstorms across northern and northeastern Taiwan, as well as Penghu and Matsu, on Thursday (Sept. 19).
The CWA noted that Matsu might face heavier rainfall, while other regions, including Kinmen, remained primarily cloudy to sunny. The agency also indicated that central and southern areas could see isolated heavy rain in the afternoon.
Rainfall in northern Taiwan is expected to ease by late evening, shifting to the southern and southeastern regions, which will experience brief showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures across Taiwan will range between 32°C to 34°C.
Keelung North Coast (北海岸), the eastern region, Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), and coastal Matsu face the risk of high waves, with some exceeding 2 meters. High tides in Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu could lead to seawater inundation or localized flooding in low-lying coastal areas.
Although Tropical Storm Pulasan has left Taiwan, a tropical depression in the South China Sea may soon strengthen into a tropical storm. However, the CWA assured that it would not impact Taiwan's weather.
