TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Labor Ho Pei-shan (何佩珊) announced on Thursday (Sept. 5) that the government is expediting revisions to the "Occupational Safety and Health Act" (職業安全衛生法) to reduce workplace accidents.
Ho highlighted recent incidents involving state-owned enterprises and the risks associated with subcontracting, which, while cost-effective, increases the likelihood of occupational hazards.
The minister emphasized the need to enhance subcontracting responsibilities to remind state-owned enterprises of their social duties.
Director-general of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (職業安全衛生署) Tzou Tzu-lien (鄒子廉) added that a meeting next week would review occupational safety for state-owned enterprises, including Taiwan Power Company (台灣電力公司) and CPC (中油), as well as public works.
