TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The European Economic and Trade Office (EETO, 歐洲經貿辦事處) announced on Wednesday (Sept. 4) that Lutz Guellner (谷力哲) officially assumed his role as European Union Representative in Taiwan on Sept. 1.
Guellner expressed his eagerness to strengthen the friendly relations and close cooperation between the European Union (EU, 歐洲聯盟) and Taiwan.
Guellner, a senior career diplomat with the European External Action Service (EEAS, 歐洲對外事務部), stated, "I am very excited to start my new job as the European Union Representative in Taiwan. I can't wait to learn more about the beautiful island of Taiwan and the people here."
Highlighting the geographical distance, Guellner emphasized, "Taiwan and the EU are like-minded partners. We want to further strengthen our friendly relations and close cooperation with Taiwan."
Guellner's extensive experience includes working for the European Commission, specializing in strategic communications. His appointment signals a continued commitment to fostering robust EU-Taiwan ties.
