TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Rock Hsu (許勝雄), acting chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF, 海峽交流基金會), on Thursday (Sept. 5), emphasized the importance of cross-strait business cooperation to enhance competitiveness and strengthen Taiwan's industry on the global stage.
Hsu made the comment at the opening of a forum aimed at strengthening the economic ties between Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau at ILLUME TAIPEI (台北茹曦酒店).
The Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, Taiwan (CNAIC, 工商協進會) and China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE, 中國工業經濟聯合會), two major business interest groups from Taiwan, jointly organized the event to promote industrial exchange.
Hsu stressed the need for increased interaction between people on both sides of the strait, highlighting that the SEF has long anticipated mutual openness in tourism and academic exchanges.
Hsu also expressed his hope that the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (交通部觀光署) will lift the ban on group tours to China. He believes that such tourism could foster better mutual understanding among the people.
The forum features two sessions focusing on AI and corporate green energy transformation. However, organizers have decided to keep the entire event closed to the public.
