TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A job bank unveiled its latest salary and benefits survey on Thursday (Nov. 21), revealing the average annual salary in Taiwan for 2024 stands at NT$802,000. The semiconductor industry leads with NT$1.035 million, maintaining its top position for the eighth year. This dominance highlights the sector's financial allure amid Taiwan's tech-driven economy.
Four top five high-paying industries are technology-related, including telecommunications, electronic components, and software networking. With its overseas operations, the footwear and textile manufacturing sector also ranks high due to increased expatriate opportunities, according to 104 Job Bank (104人力銀行).
AI-related engineering roles dominate the top-paying engineering positions, with analog IC design engineers earning NT$1.762 million and digital IC design engineers following at NT$1.57 million. In non-engineering roles, real estate agents top the list with an average annual salary of NT$1.521 million, buoyed by a strong housing market earlier this year.
The survey indicates that 99.5% of companies expect to distribute year-end bonuses, averaging 1.12 months, a slight increase from last year. The finance industry leads with an average bonus of 1.88 months, marking its 13th year at the top, followed by the computer and consumer electronics manufacturing sector at 1.5 months. Weber Chung (鍾文雄), chief HR officer at 104 Job Bank, attributes the modest bonus increase to an economic recovery that has yet to flourish fully.
The accommodation and food service industry offers the lowest bonuses at 0.69 months, impacted by rising prices. Education and medical services, primarily composed of small and medium enterprises, provide 0.87 and 0.99 months, respectively, struggling to compete with larger firms.
