TAIPEI (TVBS News) — FDC International Hotels Corporation (雲品國際) launched a six-month trial of a three-day weekend policy at its Fleur de Chine Hotel Sun Moon Lake (日月潭雲品溫泉酒店) on Sept. 1.
The company will evaluate the results to determine whether to implement the policy long-term, making it the first business in Taiwan to adopt such an initiative.
FDC chairman Emile Sheng (盛治仁) believes the three-day weekend will boost employee satisfaction, overall efficiency, and creativity, highlighting the significant changes in work patterns and workplace culture since the global pandemic.
He noted that the new generation of employees increasingly demands a better work-life balance, prompting FDC International to take the lead in adopting the three-day weekend policy. The goal is to improve employees' quality of life and create a more flexible and humane working environment.
FDC emphasized that the new policy would not affect customer service quality. During the trial period, the company will closely monitor and assess the policy's effectiveness, adjusting based on employee and customer feedback.
Additionally, FDC is renovating employee dining and rest areas and has purchased land for a second employee dormitory to enhance working conditions and benefits. Departments unable to implement the three-day weekend will also receive extra overtime pay, and the company hopes the new policy will attract like-minded talent.
