TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese badminton ace Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) triumphed over Tanya Hemanth of India on Wednesday (Sept. 4) at the Yonex Taipei Open (台北羽球公開賽), advancing to the round of 16. Tai, who recently returned to the court after a knee injury, displayed her dominance in a swift victory.
Tai opened the first game with a commanding 6-1 lead, further widening the gap. She repeated this performance in the second game, starting with another 6-1 run and entering the technical timeout at 11-4. Hemanth posed little threat, and Tai decisively concluded the match.
After reaching the semifinals of the Daihatsu Japan Open on Aug. 24, Tai withdrew due to a knee injury and returned to Taiwan for rest and recovery. She made her comeback on Sept. 4, showcasing her resilience and skill.
Last year, Tai also faced Hemanth in the round of 16 at the Yonex Taipei Open, and she won easily in straight sets.
