TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Grand Hotel Taipei (圓山大飯店) confirmed on Wednesday (Aug. 28) that Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭), the recently retired honorary chairperson of the Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA, 台灣觀光協會), will take over as chairperson.
Yeh, 75, has a long history of public service. She served as a legislator in 1989 and held positions such as minister of transportation, chairperson of the Hakka Affairs Council, secretary-general to the president, and vice premier. She led the TVA for two terms before stepping down on June 30.
The hotel's Duen-Mou Foundation (台灣敦睦聯誼會) will host the 17th chairperson handover ceremony on Friday at 3 p.m. Yeh will attend the ceremony to officially assume her new role.
Lin Yu-sheng (林育生), the current chairperson of Grand Hotel Taipei, was appointed by then-Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) in March 2019. Although Lin's term has two years remaining, President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) administration has been restructuring personnel in state-owned enterprises and government-affiliated business units.
