TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese Badminton Player Chou Tien-chen (周天成) has withdrawn from the upcoming Korea Open, set to commence on Tuesday (Aug. 27), due to blisters on his feet. Chou will return to Taiwan to rest and receive treatment.
Chou recently reached the Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open 2024 finals but lost to 19-year-old French player Alex Lanier in straight sets. Despite the defeat, Chou remained composed, noting that he would keep practicing and save up the strength for the next match.
On Sunday, Taiwan's Olympic gold medalist Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) arrived in South Korea. He will compete with his new partner, Chiu Hsiang-chieh (邱相榤), to continue their quest for world ranking points.
Meanwhile, Taiwanese Badminton Ace Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) sustained a hyperextension injury to her left knee during the women's singles semifinals last week at the Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open 2024. She has decided to withdraw from competitions and return to Taiwan for further examination and treatment.
