TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Actor Sunny Wang (王陽明) on Wednesday (Aug. 21) acknowledged his controversial remarks about the "sissy" (娘砲) comment, admitting it was an inappropriate term and emphasizing he meant no harm. Wang expressed his desire for personal growth following the backlash.
During a promotional event for the film "GATAO: Like Father Like Son" (角頭-大橋頭), fans asked Wang to make a heart gesture. Instead, he responded with a high-five and later mentioned on social media that he would not make "sissy" gestures.
Wang acknowledged the inappropriateness of the term "sissy" and expressed understanding of others' dissatisfaction. He clarified that he did not intend to harm anyone and promised to be more cautious with his words in the future.
Producer Chang Wei-yin (張威縯) revealed that Wang felt very depressed after the incident. Chang mentioned that Wang just wanted to create that atmosphere, got too involved, and had no intention of hurting the crowd or fans.
