TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese actor and singer Greg Hsu (許光漢) has enlisted in the military, his management company confirmed on Wednesday (Aug. 21). The company expressed gratitude for public concern and requested privacy for Hsu, who is expected to return next year with new projects.
Hsu, 33, gained fame through the drama "Someday or One Day" (想見你) and the film "Marry My Dead Body" (關於我和鬼變成家人的那件事). He has also appeared in Japanese and South Korean productions.
Recently, online users revealed that Hsu has started his military service and is undergoing basic training at Chenggongling Recruit Training Command (成功嶺). Authorities have instructed recruits not to ask Hsu for autographs or photos.
The Ministry of the Interior (MOI, 內政部) reported that the 258th batch of alternative service recruits began their training on Aug. 20, 2024. Hsu will undergo 21 days of basic training at Chenggongling and is required to complete one year of military service.
