TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) has approved a reconsideration proposal for the parliamentary reform bill, marking a significant step in Taiwan's legislative process. The document was sent to the Executive Yuan (行政院) at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (June 11), signaling the administration's commitment to refining the legislative framework.
Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui (郭雅慧) confirmed that the Secretary-General of the Presidential Office has officially notified the Legislative Yuan (立法院) of the reconsideration request. This move came after the Legislative Yuan passed the parliamentary reform bill, sparking conflicts between political factions.
The Executive Yuan had raised concerns last Thursday, citing seven reasons why the amendments to the Law Governing the Legislative Yuan's Power and certain sections of the Criminal Code were impractical, leading to the approval of the reconsideration proposal.
