TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Incumbent Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an on Thursday (Feb. 22) wished former Democratic Progressive Party legislator Kao Chia-yu luck in securing a nomination from the Democratic Progressive Party.
Kao revealed her political ambitions during an interview a day earlier with media personality Frances Huang on an Internet show. She openly divulged her aspiration to compete for the Taipei mayorship in the 2026 elections.
At the opening ceremony for the 2024 Shilin Residence Tulip Festival, Chiang, responding to reporters' inquiries, said "I don't know what position Kao will run for next, but I wish her the best of luck in getting nominated by the Democratic Progressive Party.
Kao failed to secure her seat in Taipei's fourth electoral district (Nangang-Neihu) during the 2024 legislative elections. Despite this drawback, she remains resolute about her return to politics in future elections.
