TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As the cold high-pressure systems begin to ease off, Taiwan is experiencing significant radiant cooling, leading to a notable drop in temperatures to 10-14 degrees Celsius on Friday (Jan. 5). This change marks the start of a fluctuating weather pattern for the coming week.
Over the next two days, the cold air mass is expected to gradually subside, stabilizing temperatures across the country. The north and east will see highs of 20-24 degrees, while the south and central regions can expect warmer temperatures ranging from 23-29 degrees.
Saturday brings a forecast of a weak frontal system over Taiwan, potentially causing brief showers. This system is expected to lower temperatures in the Northeast, while central and southern Taiwan will likely face minimal impact due to their windward position.
Beginning on Monday, a northeast monsoon is set to weaken, bringing added moisture and the possibility of brief showers in the north, east, and central mountain areas. This weather pattern is anticipated to persist into Tuesday.
Looking ahead to next Saturday (election day), despite the passage of a weak frontal system and a northeast monsoon moving south, significant drops in temperature or rainfall are not expected. The northern and northeastern regions will likely remain cloudy, while central and southern Taiwan are expected to be clearer.
By Sunday, the northeast monsoon will intensify, leading to a drop in temperatures, although the likelihood of rain remains low.
