TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Republic of China Armed Forces (ROCA), also called the armed forces of Taiwan, are set to enhance their alertness two days before and after the 2024 general elections, according to the Ministry of National Defense (MND).
Colonel Lo Yung-chang, deputy head of MND's Office of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff (DCGS) for Operations and Planning, stated at a press conference that the military will closely monitor enemy activities during the elections, coordinating with joint intelligence and reconnaissance.
The armed forces will swiftly adjust troop deployments in response to gray zone tactics, and ensure training exercises, readiness, and communication structures are in place.
Colonel Lo Cheng-yu, an officer at the DCGS Intelligence of the MND, noted the military's vigilance regarding the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) activities. Surveillance and reconnaissance measures are employed to monitor the seas and airspace around Taiwan.
The PLA maintains combat readiness patrols, while the ROCA tracks and responds accordingly.
