TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an reaffirmed on Wednesday (Dec. 20) that his administration strictly adheres to the law regarding the denial of permission for a public assembly by Taiwan People's Party (TPP) supporters in front of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te's campaign headquarters on election day.

Chiang, attending a legislator candidate draw at the Central Election Committee (CEC), emphasized that the application review process, overseen by the Taipei City Government's New Construction Office (NCO) in coordination with the Taipei City Police Department, follows regulations established prior to 2017.

TPP legislator-at-large candidate Huang Kuo-chang accused Taipei City Police Department's Commissioner Chang Jung-Hsin of leniency in the "Eighty-Eight Guild Hall" incident in November 2022.

In response to these allegations, Chiang maintained that both the police department and the NCO operate impartially, upholding administrative neutrality principles.
