TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je and his running mate Cynthia Wu held their first joint rally on Saturday (Dec. 16) in Tainan, the stronghold of their Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) opponent Lai Ching-te.
The event drew a crowd of over 10,000 people. The gathering covered a mere 200 meters in nearly 20 minutes, surpassing the ten-thousand mark and posing a significant challenge to the DPP's traditional voter base.
Ko criticized the DPP during the rally, questioning Lai's response to illegal constructions and stating, "Taiwan belongs to all of its people, not just the DPP." Wu, in her rural campaign debut, highlighted her professional background as a unique asset among vice presidential candidates.
