TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih announced on Thursday (Dec. 7) that former Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng has agreed to serve as the chairman of the national support group for the KMT's presidential candidate, aiming to unite forces accross the nation.
In a strategic political move, Hou, alongside his vice-presidential running mate, Jaw Shau-kong, and KMT Chairman Eric Chu, met with Wang on the same day. Hou acknowledged and thanked Wang's assistance in overcoming challenges throughout the election process.
Wang, a seasoned figure within the KMT, reaffirmed his support for the party's nominated presidential candidates and expressed confidence in Hou's growth and understanding of national policy issues since his nomination. The former legislative leader's endorsement significantly boosted Hou's campaign, highlighting unity within the party.
