TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Supporters lined up from 2 a.m. at the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) campaign headquarters on Tuesday (Nov. 28) for the exclusive "Lai-Hsiao ticket" badge sale, energizing the party's morale.
The DPP initially planned to sell 130 badges per person but expanded the offering to 400 due to overwhelming demand. The popularity of the cat-dog badges, worn by Lai Ching-te and Hsiao Bi-khim during their presidential registration, underscores Hsiao's nationwide appeal.
DPP enthusiasts are eager to see the impact of Hsiao's dynamic entry into the race. "The DPP is strategically scheduling local electoral events for Hsiao to aid legislative candidates," said DPP spokesperson Chang Chih-hao. "With the election imminent, we are fully committed."
On Nov. 24, the DPP released a video of Hsiao, joined by legislators Su Chiao-hui and Chiu Yi-ying, exploring Taiwanese snacks at a convenience store. Hsiao's longing for Taiwanese flavors and her warm interactions with locals highlighted her charm.
Since Hsiao's candidacy announcement, DPP legislator Hsu Shu Hua has been particularly keen to align with her, seeking to boost her own legislative campaign. The DPP has scheduled a major rally for Nov. 30.
