TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In the early hours of Monday (Nov. 27), Taiwan experienced chilliness in the plains of the north and Yilan, with temperatures ranging between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius due to increased cloud coverage.
Conversely, sunny areas like the Huadong Valley and central and southern regions witnessed colder weather today, with temperatures falling between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius because of radiative cooling effects.
Following a weakening northeast monsoon, Taiwan saw reduced moisture in the air today, leading to decreased rainfall in most areas.
The sun's presence throughout the day warmed up northeastern regions, with temperatures projected to reach 23 to 24 degrees Celsius. The weather was notably warmer in the south and east of the island, where temperatures ranged from 26 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Despite the southward drift of the monsoon, Taiwan's weather is forecast to remain stable on Tuesday, with only a slight cold air mass brought by the winds.
All areas are expected to have clear and cloudy skies, with a minimal temperature drop of one to two degrees Celsius. However, open plains and mountainous regions in the suburbs of western Taiwan are likely to experience temperatures dropping to 13 to 15 degrees Celsius due to radiative cooling.
An intensifying wave of the monsoon is anticipated in the last four days of the week, bringing increased moisture and a sharp temperature drop. The north and east of Taiwan are expected to be the most affected, with overcast skies and rain.
The central and southern parts of the island, which are shielded from the weather front, may enjoy fair weather with clouds and clear skies during the day. Officials, however, advise people to carry coats due to the significant temperature variations.
