Cold air mass brings record temperature drop to Taiwan (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has forecast stable weather conditions across Taiwan, with mostly cloudy to clear skies expected for the first half of Friday (Nov. 10).

However, a weather front is anticipated to move through in the afternoon, potentially bringing isolated heavy rains to the north coast of Keelung and the mountainous regions of northern Taiwan.

Meteorologist Wu Te-jung predicts a significant drop in temperatures across the island due to the arrival of the season's first continental air mass starting next Monday. Temperatures in the country's plains are expected to fall below 15 degrees Celsius at their lowest.

As northeast winds diminish on Wednesday and Thursday morning, a brief improvement in weather and a slight increase in temperatures are expected. Conversely, the eastern parts of Taiwan are likely to experience brief showers, according to Wu.

With continental highs prevailing over the island, most regions in Taiwan are forecast to maintain stable weather conditions next Friday.

Wu also discussed the anticipated effects of Taiwan's first wave of cold air mass, which he expects will bring slight chills. This cold air mass is likely to counteract daytime warmth and lead to radiative cooling (RC) at night, causing bodies to lose heat more rapidly.
