TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice-presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim expressed concerns on Thursday (Nov. 24), about Taiwan's political climate and her own reservations regarding her return to the country for public office.
Speaking to both local and international media, Hsiao described Taiwan's political environment as a "dark political vortex." As Taiwan's former representative in Washington, she felt she could serve the nation away from electoral politics.
Hsiao, despite these concerns, committed to working with presidential candidate Lai Ching-te to protect Taiwan's democracy, freedom, and basic rights. She aims to provide Taiwanese people with more opportunities and focus on state affairs without distractions.
She emphasized the importance of constructive national debates and steering clear of external disturbances to address critical issues.
Hsiao's stance highlights the challenges and tensions within Taiwan's political landscape, underscoring her dedication to maintaining stability and progress despite adversities.
