HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih slammed the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its presidential hopeful Lai-Ching-te on Tuesday (Oct. 17) for failing to deliver on its electoral promises in terms of social housing policy.
On Monday, DPP's presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, faced rebuke from students at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. They criticized his inability to complete social housing projects during his tenure as Tainan Mayor.
Continuing the critique the next day, Hou accused Lai of failing to fulfill promises during a meeting at the party office in Hsinchu County.
Hou criticized Tsai's administration for not keeping its promise to build 200,000 social housing units in eight years. He asserted that Lai failed to construct even a single unit during his term as city mayor, accusing the DPP of deceiving voters.
Hou further underlined his achievements as New Taipei City mayor, where he oversaw the construction of 11,000 social housing units.
