TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih's campaign team submitted a meeting plan to the campaign office of Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential hopeful Ko Wen-je on Tuesday (Oct. 17), following the first KMT-TPP potential collaboration talk last Saturday.
Advocating for an open democratic primary, Hou's campaign stated they respected Ko's preference for a poll-based primary.
Responding to the different opinions on an open primary, KMT seeks to meet TPP halfway and accelerate the timetable for the second KMT-TPP meeting, expressing their availability to meet as early as tomorrow.
Hou's campaign team said they would uphold an inclusive conception of democracy, allowing any eligible voter to participate in the primary.
Hou's team anticipates reaching an agreement and making an announcement before the end of October, and voting is expected to be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 4-5.
The KMT-TPP potential collaboration has captured the public's attention, and the upcoming period will play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape.
