TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Development Council (NDC) announced various measures on Monday (Oct. 23) to attract 400,000 international professionals by 2030.
This move aims to address the declining population, as the council anticipates that Taiwan will face a shortage of 400,000 labor force by 2030.
The NDC unveiled plans to establish the "Talent Taiwan Program" center in November, providing services for international talents and recruitment advice.
This initiative is part of a three-pronged approach, which includes strengthening the recruitment of foreign professionals, attracting and retaining overseas students, and retaining mid-level skilled migrant workers.
To attract and retain overseas students, the Ministry of Education will actively promote the "International Student Recruitment and Retention Plan," which aims to attract outstanding international students to Taiwan and encourage them to seek employment post-graduation.
As for retaining mid-level skilled migrant workers, the Ministry of Labor will establish the "Migrant Worker Retention and Long-Term Service Center" to assist employers in recruiting mid-level skilled manpower.
