TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Three days after the incident of the tilting apartment buildings in Taipei, Dominican International School resumed classes on Monday (Sept 11). However, access to the field and playground areas remains restricted.
The recent sinking and tilting of apartment buildings on Dazhi Street in Taipei City has captured the nation's attention. Situated near the construction site, the walls and fields of the Dominican International School have suffered severe damage.
The Taipei Structural Engineers Association stated that while the sports field and the outer walls have sustained visible damage, there are no safety concerns regarding the school buildings, which led to the school's decision to open on Monday. The Taipei City government also lifted the traffic control in front of the school gate at 6:30 a.m. on the same day.
Despite resuming classes, the damaged areas on the school premises, such as the sports field and the walls, are cordoned off, resulting in some students expressing their disappointment.
Huang Chiao-wei, the section chief at the Department of Education, responsible for secondary education affairs, stated that teachers were instructed to enhance students' safety awareness.
