TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A tropical depression hanging over the northwest Pacific turned into Mild Typhoon Saola on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 24). It is expected to be closest to Taiwan next Tuesday and Wednesday, as reported by the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The CWB has stated that the tropical storm is anticipated to affect Taiwan starting next week.
Positioned to the east of the Bashi Channel, Typhoon Saola is projected to intensify into a Moderate Typhoon over the weekend.
It is most likely to be in closest proximity to Taiwan next Tuesday and Wednesday, with eastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula expected to experience the heaviest rainfall.
