TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Taipower vehicle reportedly fell off a mountain in the Fuxing District of Taoyuan City on Thursday (Aug. 3) as Typhoon Khanun approached Taiwan, killing four and injuring two.
However, Taipower declared that all work was halted that day due to the typhoon, and nobody should have been dispatched to a power distribution project at that location. An investigation is necessary to determine whether the crew went ahead with the operation.
Responding to the incident, Taipower expressed deep regret, with authorities dispatched to conduct on-site evaluations, understand the detailed circumstances and provide necessary assistance.
The construction vehicle likely fell about 50 meters into a ravine near a curve by the Sbunaw Bridge in Kaoyi Village, Fuxing District. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined by the authorities.
