TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The female tourist who was swept away by high waves with another individual while taking photos at Blue Cave on Green Island was confirmed dead on Tuesday (Aug. 1) despite the medical team's best efforts.
The woman, surnamed Li, was brought offshore by the International Life Saving Federation. She was located around 11 a.m. on Monday unconscious and immediately airlifted to Taitung Mackay Memorial Hospital.
The Coast Guard Administration reminds the public to prioritize safety during maritime activities. Awareness of dangerous waves and bringing flotation devices or life jackets can help prevent dire consequences, they said.
