NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — An accident involving a dump truck occurred in Taichung City's Dajia District, causing disruption as the vehicle overturned, spilling soil and rocks onto the road as it slid backward.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the truck was found to be overloaded, and the driver attributed the incident to brake failure. The authorities are investigating the matter and will address any potential violations.
A motorist behind the truck filmed the entire ordeal, including the dump truck colliding with a van and causing a two-vehicle accident. Despite the severity of the incident, no injuries were sustained.
Once alerted to the situation, the local police sent units to the scene to clear the debris and clean the road surface. Both drivers involved in the accident were tested for alcohol, and their results were negative.
The dump truck driver, whose surname is Li, claimed that brake failure caused the overturning. However, the police investigation revealed that the truck was overloaded, and charges will be filed accordingly.
To restore order and clean up the mess, the police called for additional personnel, including volunteers and cleaning crews. After their extensive efforts, traffic resumed to normal by 7:36 p.m.
Although the truck accident resulted in a traffic jam and vehicle damage, no physical harm was inflicted on those involved. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident while addressing any related violations.
