NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — An older man accidentally drove his car into the sea at Zhongyun Fishing Port in Taiwan due to heavy rain and unfamiliar road conditions caused by Typhoon Doksuri.
His car flipped onto its roof in poor visibility conditions. The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) spotted the upturned vehicle and quickly alerted the police and fire brigade for rescue.
The driver was successfully rescued, unharmed but shaken. The CGA advised the public to drive cautiously in port or coastal areas, especially during adverse weather and reminded them of the "118" service hotline for emergencies.
The man's silver sedan veered off the port road into the sea, flipping onto its roof. Visibility conditions at the time were poor, with heavy rain obscuring that there was no road ahead.
Staff from the Zhongyun Inspection Office of the Offshore Flotilla 5, Southern Branch, Coast Guard Administration (CGA) under the Ocean Affairs Council spotted the upturned vehicle in the water and immediately alerted the police.
A swift response ensured the driver was speedily rescued. The man, although shaken, was unharmed and conscious, proving that no life-threatening injuries had been incurred during the incident.
