TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an oversaw his first Wanan air raid drills on Monday (July 24) since being elected into office. Chiang arrived at the Taipei City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to check on the city-wide evacuation.
The Taipei City mayor pointed out that this year's Wanan drills were a bit longer than before at one hour due to the inclusion of disaster relief drills.
"We simulated rescue ops of Nangang train station being impacted by missiles, Chiang said, adding that disaster relief stations were set up at Nan Gang High School.
"The whole process is extremely comprehensive."
The upcoming week will see other parts of Taiwan undergoing the same drills. At the same time, the military will conduct its annual Han Kuang drills to showcase the nation's combat readiness and defense capabilities.
