YILAN (TVBS News) — A school bus collided with a taxi on Wednesday morning (July 12) at an intersection in Yilan City, injuring 11 children and one teacher on the bus, and a 5-year-old child in the taxi.

Upon receiving the report, medical personnel from the Yilan County Fire Bureau quickly arrived at Cihang 3rd Road and Xuefeng Road intersection and assisted the injured individuals.

The impact caused the school bus to flip to a 90-degree angle, shattering windows and scaring the children out of fear and shock.

According to a witness, the taxi driver smashed the window glass following the collision to help the frightened children get out.

The intersection where the collision occurred lacks a traffic light. Allegedly, the taxi driver was not paying attention to the road ahead, resulting in a crash with the right rear of the school bus.

Cheng Yu-sheng, 5th Team Leader in a Yilan Precinct, Yilan County, Government Police Bureau, stressed that the cause of the accident is pending further investigation and urged drivers passing through signal-less intersections should follow the road markings and slow down.

Fortunately, there were no casualties in this accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
