TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2023 Earth Solutions event concluded successfully on April 23, with Taiwanese government officials and international businesses coming together to discuss environmentally-friendly policies to make the Earth more sustainable and healthier.
Legislative Yuan Vice President Tsai Chi-chang pointed out how climate change has led to extreme weather, heavily impacting global society.
"To combat these issues, it is crucial to prioritize sustainability and take proactive measures," Tsai said, adding that "as promised, the Legislative Yuan has passed the 'Climate Change Response Act' this year, demonstrating [their] commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainability."
Over the three-day event, business leaders and Taiwanese officials, including deputy mayors from special municipalities, discussed the impact of climate change and how to engage the general public on such issues.
"There appears to be a significant disparity between consumers' attitudes and actions toward environmentally-friendly choices," International Advertising Association (IAA) Taipei Chapter President Gary Chi said.
"Despite 98% of respondents from 12 markets in the Asia-Pacific region showing a positive response towards such options, only 17% take action to support them."
Furthermore, businesses emphasized the need for cross-departmental communication between the government, schools, and companies.
By working together, we can achieve better results in combating climate change through more comprehensive strategies.
