TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei's Department of Sports ensured Taipei Dome's artificial turf is safe to use Tuesday (April 11) in response to concerns raised two days earlier regarding installing the artificial turf directly on concrete.
Taipei Deputy Mayor Lee Ssu-chuan posted pictures on Facebook Sunday of workers installing the artificial turf inside the Taipei Dome, leading people to question its safety.
According to Lee's post, Japanese technicians instructed and supervised the on-site installation. The same artificial turf is used at the Vantelin Dome Nagoya and the Kyocera Dome Osaka.
The turf is seven centimeters tall, and there will be four centimeters of fine sand and granulated crumb rubber as the infill.
The city government estimates the construction will be finished at the end of May and hopes to utilize the venue for the Chinese Professional Baseball League championship in November.
