TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan is gearing up for its annual Han Kuang military drills in the north this year, sparking speculation about its relation to the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Opposition party Kuomintang (KMT) has expressed concern about the move, with former KMT head Johnny Chiang highlighting the "significance" of the shift.
However, military expert Chang Ching has dismissed these claims, suggesting the changes are likely due to weather and geographical conditions.
Reports indicate that the military plans to relocate the amphibious landing exercise from Pingtung to Taoyuan.
The drills are scheduled to begin in early March.
