TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Monday (Feb. 20) lifted the indoor mask mandate. This decision comes after 811 days of the mandate being in place.

Although citizens of Taiwan may rejoice in being able to leave their masks behind, there are still eight places where mask-wearing remains mandatory.

This includes all forms of public transportation and medical and care institutions. Those who violate the mandate can still face fines ranging from NT$3,000 to NT$15,000.

Despite lifting the mandate, some Taiwanese expressed concerns about the decision and have chosen to continue wearing masks.
