TAIPEI (TVBS News) — An egg shortage has recently become a growing concern for the Taiwanese public. Taiwan's government has implemented various measures to address the issue but to no avail.

As investigative efforts by TVBS reporters on Sunday night showed, the egg shelves in three local supermarkets were conspicuously bare, with only a sparse scattering of egg boxes in the fridge area.

However, when Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan visited the same store just a few days ago, the egg shelves were fully stocked. Frustrated locals reported attempting to purchase eggs for two consecutive days to no avail.

Supermarket employees said the shelves are restocked twice daily, but the available supply of eggs is severely limited, with all stock typically sold out by 3 p.m.

In response, the supermarket has imposed a two-box limit on egg purchases per customer, though this policy seems moot given the complete unavailability of eggs.
