TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has invited local foreign officials to join the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
The mayor extended his invitation in English to the foreign community members during a gala on Monday.
Chiang said at the event: "I will lead by example over the next four years and beyond to ensure Taipei shines on the global stage."
He added: "We will let the world see Taipei, we will let the world see Taiwan, and we will let the world see the Republic of China."
Foreigners in attendance included American Institute in Taiwan Director Sandra Oudkirk and the members and friends of the foreign community in Taiwan.
The Taiwan Lantern Festival has returned to Taipei after 23 years. The event will run until Feb. 19
