TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hotels in Taiwan are getting more expensive as Taiwan slowly opens after the pandemic hit. Still, the country is a popular destination for hotel companies to invest in.

Taiwan's tourism market has been booming since the pandemic has eased. Many hotel companies are investing in Taiwan and preparing to open hotels, aiming for tourism to peak after the pandemic ends.

According to the Tourism Bureau, only 48.06% of tourist hotels were used last year amid the pandemic. But the average room price per night the previous year reached NT$4,195, after rising for the past three years, and is a record high.

Experts speculate that the reasons behind this are higher demands after the pandemic, increased costs, and a lack of personnel. And there is a high chance the price will continue to hike.
