TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With Taiwan's restaurant scene coming back after the pandemic, there's something new on the menu — bigger bills.

Popular Taiwan eatery Formosa Chang announced Wednesday (Feb. 1) that after maintaining the same prices for three years, the increase in ingredients and personnel costs has led to the ultimate decision to hike prices after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Starting today, ten of its lunch boxes will require consumers to fork out NT$5 more, though Formosa Chang spokesperson Lin Chen-yi assured the public that for those dining indoors, only braised duck eggs will be affected by the price hikes.

The restaurant further stressed that most of its dishes will remain the same price as before, so customers can still enjoy comparatively cheap dishes after the new year.
