TAIPEI (TVBS News) — YouBike charged a Taiwanese woman over US$187 (NT$5,700) for not returning her YouBike after usage four years ago.
The woman said she received a text informing her that she had to pay a considerable fee, but she had lost the card used to rent the bike. She also complained that the bike company notified her too late.
YouBike said that if the fee is that high, it is impossible not to notify users for such a long time.
Fortunately, in the end, she only had to pay US$7.4 (NT$225) because she had reported the loss of the card.
YouBike reminds users to turn on notifications on the app to check if the bikes are returned correctly. And if the card continues to be in arrears, people will not be able to rent bikes.
