TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan is emerging as a destination of choice on the international stage, and its leaders envision an increasingly connected future — one where locals can communicate with the wider world in two languages.

To make this dream a reality by 2030, local media, such as Ghost Island Media, will be at the heart of it all. They produce podcasts that share topics on current affairs and Taiwan in English and Mandarin, and French.

As the co-founder of Ghost Island Media in 2018, Emily Y. Wu said she aims to share the success of the "Taiwan model" with the world. "I want the listeners to know that Taiwan is a really cool place," Wu said.

When asked about why she chose podcasts as a medium, Wu said that she finds podcasts are "quite hip, very trendy, and something that was very accessible to listeners."

Wu explained how a documentary filmmaker inspired her to make her own luck. "I have to keep reminding ourselves that [...] we are given so much, and so how do we turn this into something else even bigger?" Wu said.

Wu is a pioneer in providing bilingual content with Ghost Island Media to share perspectives from Taiwan. And she is not the only person trying to be the bridge between cultures.

With Taiwan reopening, there is no doubt that the increase of foreigners in Taiwan will also increase the demand for these bilingual content.
