KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) —  A Taiwanese paratrooper who got seriously hurt 4 years ago from training celebrated his 30th birthday with the troops on Sunday (Dec. 11).

To celebrate his birthday, Chin Liang-feng's (秦良丰) companions prepared handmade gifts and sang for him in Chin's former dormitory.

Then-private first-class Chin of the army's Third Special Forces Battalion was severely injured during the Han Kuang military exercises in 2018.

He jumped out of the plane while his parachute didn't fully open, which caused him to crash to the ground from 396 meters high.

Chin's brain and spinal column were seriously damaged; he remained in a coma following the accident.

Chin expressed hopes that he can fully recover and join the Special Forces again through physical therapy.
