PINGTUNG (TVBS News) — Foreigners in Taiwan are not the only ones struggling with the cultural gap; Taiwanese people sometimes face a similar issue with South Korean products.
A woman from Pingtung surnamed Chen received a bag of "Korean Candies" from her clients and almost choked on them.
At first glance, she thought that it was a bag of sweets so she opened the package and put one "treat" in her mouth.
"When I put it in my mouth, my mouth went completely dry and I pulled out a tissue wipe," Chen said with a smile.
The packaging is completely covered with Korean-language descriptions, and the Chinese instructions are in a very small font, making it hard for people to notice and read, she explained.
These tissue wipes have become popular among travelers as they are small and convenient to carry along. However, parents are worried that their children would make the same mistake as the packaging is quite misleading.
