TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Members of Taiwan's national baseball team will return home Monday (Nov. 25) evening, with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) heading to the airport to welcome them. The Air Force will deploy four F-16V fighter jets to accompany the team's flight, following their triumphant victory at the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 championship.
On Tuesday, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will host the delegation at the Presidential Office. The event will include a grand parade titled "Baseball Heroes, Taiwan Soars" (棒球英雄 台灣尚勇), starting at 3:20 p.m. from the intersection of Ketagalan Boulevard and Gongyuan Road, reaching the Presidential Office by 3:50 p.m. Along the route, organizers will set up eight tents to distribute "TEAM TAIWAN" flags and small national flags, available in limited quantities.
Participants can join in the festivities at designated cheering stations on Chongqing South Road Section 1, where they can sing the anthem "Taiwan Soars" alongside cheerleaders. Upon reaching the Presidential Office, the delegation will pass through a ceremonial arch formed by the military honor guard, with President Lai and Vice President Hsiao greeting them.
Those unable to attend can watch the live broadcast on platforms managed by President Lai, Vice President Hsiao, and the Presidential Office. The Presidential Office has expressed gratitude to the Taipei City Government and the Chinese Professional Baseball League for their assistance and advised the public to stay informed about traffic control measures.
