TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards, one of the most prestigious award shows of the Chinese language cinema, are slated on Saturday (Nov. 19).
Four hundred fifty-seven films submitted applications this year, including entries from Hong Kong, mainland China, and other Chinese-speaking regions.
Among other highlights, the Hong Kong action thriller "Limbo" is expected to be a big winner, having received the most, a total of 14 nominations. Taiwanese family drama Coo-Coo 043 and horror film Incantation also received 13 nominations each.
Actress Hsieh Ying-Xuan, who previously won the award of Best Leading Actress at the Golden Horse Awards, is hosting This year's ceremony. Many are anticipating how she will be taking on this new role.
International guests, Japanese director Koreeda Hirokazu and actress Kuroki Hitomi, will be in attendance, not just the lecturers of the Golden Horse Master Class but also as presenters at the event.
