TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu hosted a tea party for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at the Taipei Guest House on Tuesday (March 26), sharing Taiwan's experiences and achievements in promoting international participation and cooperation.

Wu stated that NGO partners have helped Taiwan become a base for freedom, democracy, and human rights, a medical health and humanitarian care pioneer, and a model for women's equality and sustainable development. They have also attracted several internationally renowned NGOs to establish a presence in Taiwan.

 


This year's NGO tea party, themed "Necessary, Growing, Outstanding," was attended by more than 160 representatives from NGOs involved in international affairs from various fields, both domestically and internationally. 

In his speech, Wu thanked NGO partners for their unity, resilience, and excellence in the face of rapid changes in the world's political and economic situation. He said they have made Taiwan a source of cultural, sports, and youth exchanges and have attracted numerous internationally renowned NGOs to Taiwan, showcasing the vitality and diversity of Taiwan's civil society through public-private cooperation.

Wu stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to encourage NGOs to participate internationally and will assist in promoting citizen diplomacy through international youth ambassadors and NGO talent training programs.
