KINMEN, Taiwan (TVBS News) — Foxconn Founder Terry Gou and Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je teamed up on Tuesday (May 30) in a show of unity as they participated in a sedan chair procession at Kinmen Island's Wudao Cheng Huang Temple, also called City God Temple.
The pilgrimage, which lasted approximately one hour, saw Gou and Ko each taking hold of one end of the sedan chair.
Earlier in the day, Vice President Lai Ching-te, also the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) presidential nominee, joined Gou and Ko on stage to deliver a brief speech emphasizing the pursuit of peace for the nation. The three leaders presented a united front during the event.
The duo remained silent while reporters questioned the possibility of a future President-Vice President pairing between Gou and Ko.
Despite Ko's departure from the pilgrimage to deliver a speech at the National Quemoy University, he exchanged a handshake and a smile with Gou before the procession ended abruptly, capturing the moment for the cameras.
